| Description | : | American,20th century Signed bottom right and dated 58,Watercolor/chalk painting on emery board 18″x24″ William Weintraub, American born is known for his superb rendition ofportraits of Israeli presidents, and Israeli people. He graduated from Maryland Institute of Art, and studied under the reknowned teacher Jacques Maroger. In 1944 he volunteeered in the US Merchant Marines and continued to paint subjects from his trips to Europe and the Mediterranean. Weintrabu arrived in Palestine in 1948 and fought the War of Independence, after a brief internment in Cyprus. Following a stint in the Israeli Merchant Navy he settled in Tel-Aviv in 1955 where he gave all his time to painting. Weintraub has had many successful one-man shows and participated in group exhibitions all over the world including New York, Pierre Matisse Gallery. His paintings are also in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. |

| Description | : | Roumnanian-Israeli, born 1925 signed, watercolour and mixed media on paper 17 3/4″ x 13 1/2″ Born in Roumania, he emigrated to Israel in 1944 and fought in the War of Independence. He studied in the Bezalel School of Art and later in Holland and Ravenna. In 1958, he returned to Jerusalem to work in a variety of media: oil, watercolour, chalk mosaic and silver. He strives to attain a synthesis between reality and abstraction as well as between reality and imagination. He had exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institute-Washington, Museum of Modern Art in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and other museums worldwide. He has held one man shows in England, France, Belgium, Germany, and the US. He is best known for his scenes of Jerusalem chosen by the Ministry of Tourism as prestige posters. His works are featured in Eliane Wilson,”Jerusalem, reflection of Eternity”,London, Shepherd-Walwyn,Publshrs.. 1990 |
